Restaurants in Rome

We’ll be in Rome for four days. We’ve been there several times but it’s been a few years. Any recommendations for restaurants? Good food and charming is ok. Any price is ok. Is it worth it to go to Trastevere for dinner or is it just touristy? If we wanted to take one day out of the city by train, where would you recommend thanks so much.

Yes, we found Trastevere to be over rated and mostly tourist traps - not outright bad, but not great by any means.
Our favorite place in Rome is a neighborhood restaurant popular with locals, Bella Napoli in the Prati area at Via Simone de Saint Bon, 57. Great food and service, very reasonable prices, away from the tourist fray.

We were in Rome in June and our hotel recommended this place in Trastevere- daLu`, via della Gensola 58a. It was so good we went back the next night. It is in a quieter part of Trastevere, not too far from the river, has a lovely outdoor patio, but inside is nice too.(we tried both) Not a tourist trap, locals were dining there too.
Food was really good, service was friendly and sincere, the owner was on site both nights, hands on serving and making sure all was running smoothly.

They were closed for Ferragosto on my recent trip so I didn't dine there, but Tavernaccia da Bruno is an excellent restaurant in Trastevere. I would reserve. Not a restaurant, but I tried Otaleg for gelato on my recent trip. It's in Trastevere, where I was staying. Great gelato! Full Italy gelato list from Gambero Rosso for 2022:
