My experience has been that so many Roman restaurants are excellent that to name only a few is limiting. The seafood and artichokes are especially superior.Just stroll around any neighborhood and look at the many restaurants.Check out the posted menus and prices.Find one you like and give it a try.I would avoid most hotel restaurants and many pizzarias as simply too limited but even some of them are good.Any osteria is almost always good.Rome is superior to Paris, less expensive, and more creative with food.I never thought I would say that but it is true..

I agree with Mac - - still recommendations are worth a little something. Osteria la Carbonara - - at Campo d. Fiori meets your criteria, as does Le Volte, near the Pantheon.

Don't make a cross-trip for either, as there are probably great places near wherever you are. But these are sound choices in these two areas.

Best wishes,

Rex
