Restaurants in Provence
My husband & I and another couple are going on a bike trip in Provence at the end of Sept. We have 2 dinners on our own; one in Bedoin and one in Gordes. We don't eat seafood, shellfish or pork.
Any suggestions for a memorable meal? |
BayView, we had 2 wonderful meals at Le Clos De Gustave in Gordes. The set menu was 33,00 at that time and it was like theatre. the meals lasted nearly 3 hrs. with a myriad of wonderful dishes being presented. The staff were delightful and helpful. You will love Gordes. When we there at the end of September last year we stayed at the Mas des Romarins with a room overlooking the hill town. There were 2 sets of biking couples staying there at the same time. The weather was great sunny and no rain. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could. Enjoy!

Mas de Tourteron (Gordes) and Auberge de l'Aigubrun (Bonnieux) provided superb meals on my last trip (2002).

We had a great lunch in Gordes at Les Bories about 8 years ago (!) - not sure what the place's reputation is at present, but it'd be easy to find out. I believe it had 1 Michelin star at the time we visited. Very well-worth it!

No Michelin stars for Les Bories in 2007, although its hotel component does get three little hotel symbols.
The only Michelin stars in the area are found at the two-star La Bastide de Capelongue, in Bonnieux, where I had a fantastic dinner two years ago. I swore that, if I ever returned to the Luberon, I'd try to have all my meals either there or at another one of Edouard Loubet's establishments. |
Mas de Tourteron (outside Gordes) is still great! We had a wonderful meal there in June of this year. Beautifully decorated in addition to having fabulous food and impeccable service.
|
bookmarking but love seafood/shellfish/and pork.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I've e-mailed Le Clos de Gustave for a reservation.
|
Oh, I am still looking for restaurant suggestions for Bedoin.
|
I can definitely second the recommend for Le Clos de Gustave in Gordes and would highly-highly recommend Bernard Mathys, Le Chene 84400 Gargas; Tel.: 04 90 04 84 64. This restaurant is an easy 15-20 minute drive from Gordes and reservations via telephone are a must. The food, ambience, and service are incomparable.

Try La Ferme de la Huppe, just down the hill from Gordes.
