restaurants in Paris that offere wine pairings with dinner
I am looking for dinners that are served with wine paired to each course. I realize that in many restaurants they will suggest a wine to go with any course but I talking about a pre-set menu of food + matched wines. So far I have found Verjus and Le Gaigne in the non-exorbitant price range. Does anyone know of any others, budget 100Euro or less per person for food + wine?
Thanks. |
Maybe check out Willi's Wine Bar. I had an awesome meal there and we ordered a la carte but I think they had menus also and I think included wine.

Hi C,
I am curious as to why you desire a resto with wine pairings as different from letting the sommelier or the waiter suggest something for you. Thanks ((I)) |
I haven't been but Saturne offers a wine pairing. However I'm unsure if it's 100 or less with wine.
Willi's offers 2 or 3 course menus but I don't recall seeing wine pairings. |
I did read a review from David Lebovitz that the food at O Chateau, which is a wine bar, is excellent. They offer dinners with wine pairings.

Ira, I like trying a variety of different wines that go well with each course...and ordering a full glass with each course would be too much. The pours are smaller with set pairings.
On the sentimental side, I have had a few very memorable special occasion dinners of this type (in the US, though, so maybe my expectations are off). |
We've had several in France, though at the 100 Euro pricepoint, they were at lunch rather than dinner. Tailllevent, Le Pre Catalan and Les Ambassadeurs are wonderful if your group would like a very long lunch as opposed to a dinner.
We love Verjus which is not open at lunchtime. |
Is the 98 euro menu at Taillevent a wine pairing or does it just include wine? I know several places in Paris at that price point or less that include wine but they're not really wine pairings. I too appreciate smaller pours of a variety of wines but even in the US that price point would be fairly low.

Excellent. Like Le Reminet (my rec on your other question), this has a wine cellar.

Hi P,
>Is the 98 euro menu at Taillevent a wine pairing or does it just include wine?< On our last visit, it included a glass of wine. ((I)) |
As ira mentioned, Taillevent has a wine paring menu. My BYW and I had the wine pairing dinner there in 2009. Fortunately we did not have to pay for because it was a gift. The whole experience was excellent, with a wonderful selection of European wines and great albeit overabundant food. It took three hours.
But don't go if you're on a budget. |
I just read about this place in CN Traveler, a St Germain trendy restaurant it has wine pairings http://www.agapesubstance.com/#/en/home/
The website is clunky on my computer as the logo covers up stuff you want to read, but it appears they have a 109 euro menu with pairings at both lunch and dinner, which sounds odd. They seem to have a cheaper and more expensive choice. I think the idea that you'd get some expensive restaurant like Taillevent to give you wine pairings plus the food for 98 euro is not going to happen. Nor Pre Catalan, etc. Pre Catalan as a lunch one that is 130 euro. |
The 109 menu at Agape Substance is only for lunch. It's a misprint on the English version. The French version has the correct prices. Be aware that you'll be sitting on backless stools for 3-4 hours. I wasn't impressed with the food but it's a media darling.
That reminds me that Akrame also has wine pairings but I haven't been http://www.akrame.com/ |
wow, that akrame website is awesome!

You will not be sorry if you decide on Verjus. Wonderful food, wine and service in an intimate setting.
