Restaurants in Paris
 

My daughter and I will be in Paris, in a hotel in the area near rue Mouffetard and Notre-Dame, in the Latin quarter, and we want some real local type food, any suggestions? We will be eating breakfast, lunch and dinner out, and good deserts and pastries are a must! We will also be seeing the regular sights, so in those areas we will be eating, so all recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks and hope all your travels are like the ending of all my meals.....sweet.

I am new to this site and started thinking of places for you as I live in Paris - but if you do a search on the site, there are many good suggestions.

Wonderful and fun raclette restaurant on rue Mouffetard--Au Piano Muet.
And in the Marais, Auberge du Jarente on rue Jarente, metro St.Paul.

Try Au Petit Marguéry in the 13th arrondissement (located very close to the 5th arrondissement - an easy walk from rue Mouffetard) for wonderful French cuisine, including excellent game. And don't forget to try the house speciality, Grand Marnier soufflé, for dessert.

We stayed near rue Mouffetard last week. The pâtisserie Le Fournil de Mouffetard has very fresh, and sweet pâtisseries for your mornings!

As for lunch and dinner, you don't have to dine in this area. We took the metro often to get to the places we'd chosen for dinner.

I was a bit surprised how late the market stalls along rue Mouffetard opened in the mornings. They seemed to start business around 9 a.m., some a bit earlier.

There's a place in this area where I'm thinking of eating in June--Le jardin des pates. I'm a vegetarian and we're not really foodies, and we like healthy, filling meals. This place looks good. Does anyone know it?

You will be overwhelmed at the amount of restaurants, cafe`s & bars in the 5th. Many of the eating places are nothing more than greasy spoons, especially along rue de la Harpe and rue de la Huchette.
You don't state a budget so maybe you also need to buy a Paris Travel Guide (a handy little pocket one is Top 10 Paris by EyeWitness) which gives you an estimate of prices by displaying the EEE
sign next to the restaurants name.
