Restaurants in Granada, Spain

Need some advice for a great restaurant in Granada, Spain for dinner. Also in Ronda.

I think it is magical to eat at the parador restaurant right inside the Alhambra. It overlooks the Generalife gardens. I ate outdoors on the terrace, so it's best for a trip in mild to warm weather.

In Granada I recommend you Las Tinajas, C/. Martinez Campos, 17 phone 958254393 (near well known calle Recogidas).
Also: La Ruta del Veleta, driving out of Granada,on the road to Sierra Nevada. See their website www.rutadelveleta.com

In Ronda: Tragabuches, calle Jose Aparicio, 1, phone 952190291, very very near the Parador (that has a good restaurant too).

We dined at the Parador on a beautiful warm night. The ambience is magical as is an after dinner walk around the public parts of Alhambra at night. The food & wine were very good but the service was really off the night we were there - and I'm not being fussy here. The maitre d' was apologetic & offered brandies which we refused. Just an off-night I assume.

Another vote for the parador restaurant, and definitely outside on the terrace after dark when the Generalife is illuminated.

We did this last July and the food and service were excellent. We also enjoyed the guitar player which made the whole experience even more memorable.

I second Ruta del Veleta. We had a most excellent meal there. We took a cab there and back from the parador since it's on the outskirts of Granada.

Yes dinner at the alambra is very nice; the food is ok but the view is wonderful. Otherwise, save dinners for other parts of Spain -- Granada is the Tapas captial - wonderful treats for just a glass of beer =)

Our best meal of our entire Spain trip a couple years ago was at a very local restaurant in the Albayzin Quarter of Granada. Casa Torcuato, 2 blocks beyond Plaza Larga on Placeta de Carniceros, Calle Carniceros 4. Telephone: 958-202-039. At the time we were there, they were open for lunch and dinner and closed on Sunday. The atmosphere is basic and none of the customers were speaking English. For 3 people the total was 26 euros including wine. The food was fabulous. My notes brought back wonderful memories of the stuffed red peppers, stuffed cabbage, and sole with pistachio sauce. Yum!

The Parador inside the Alhambra is wonderful, but I would also try a restaurant in the Albaicin called Safron. It is just up from the Plaza Nueva on the Darro River. We were there two weeks ago, and it was delightful.

My Granada hotel manager & some friends recommended "LAS TOMASAS" in Granada. Any comments ?
