Restaurants in Gare du Nord?

I'm wondering if there's anyplace decent to eat or to pick up a "picnic" lunch before boarding the Eurostar to London. I have two kids and suspect that they might not like whatever is available on the train.

I don't know the exact names but I noticed there was at least two pretty large restaurant/cafes inside. There are places selling croissants and pastries I recall. But I don't know if there are places to pick up picnic food. I'm sure you can buy sandwiches though.

There are many eateries including McDonalds just opposite the station - seems only a few small restos in station - of course take-out kiosks selling sandwiches, etc. Not much good is available on the train unless you chose the expensive meals - snack car is limited - and meals may only be available in first class - not sure about that.

There's a moderately pleasant, small "designed" cafe in the Gare du Nord that can fuel you, if not thrill you, before the under-the-water ride. And/or snack and sandwich stands.

There's a Paul's bakery after you go through security on the second floor (US). They have good sandwiches and pastry. See

You will have many options for having or picking up lunch in the main station. As mentioned by mvor, after you pass security on the second floor, there is a Paul counter that carries pastries and pre-made sandwiches.
