Restaurants in Florence
We'll be spending this Memorial Day weekend in Florence and I was wondering if anybody had any special restaurants they'd recommend. Thanks!

Try Cantinetta Antinori.
|
Antinori is great, also try Cibreo and Da Noi..both wonderful

Quatro Leoni on a small piazza down an alley across from Hotel Lungarno.

Make a reservation so you can sit outside.

Ask for the wine list. Order the grilled chicken and any pasta. Bistek Florentina also delicious.
|
Bistek Florentino is now off the menus in Florence because of MAd Cow disease. Pity there is nothing even near it in flavor . Beef on the bone has become a no-no! In fact they held an auction for the last steak and it went for several thousand dollars then they had a funeral procession or something like it!

Baldovino's (near Santa Croce)
|
Frank, please tell us more about Baldovino's.

Grazie mille

I just read the Bistek Florentina is still on menus, only its served without the bone.

We liked Trattoria Il Caminetto, at Via Della Studio, 34r. The wait staff was terrific, as was the food. Complimentary dessert wines and grappa were served at the end of the meal. Very reasonable prices, too. Near the Duomo. Joyce

We chose to eat at Baldovino's from its listing in Sandra Gustafson's "Cheap Eats in Italy" which I highly recommend. There were also several positive comments either on this forum or on Rick Steves'. The waitress/staff were very friendly. One of their specialties is focaccia with various toppings. We had one with caprese (fresh buffalo mozarella, tomatoes, basil, and olive oil). We then had risotto with asparagus, gnocchi, rabbit with onions, and the house dessert which was an apple tart with pine nuts, raisins, and custard. Everything was delicious. We polished off a liter of house wine and a liter of bottled water and our bill was $45 for two(I just got my VISA statement).
