Restaurants Bayeux, Amboise and Beaune?

Hi,

We will be in Bayeux, Amboise and Beaune. We welcome any restaurant recommendations. In city centre or a short drive would work. Thanks.

What's your budget like?

I recommend Le Pommier in Bayeux. It's near the cathedral.

We've stayed at the Chateau de Sully, just about 3kms north of Bayeux, as have several of our friends...their restaurant is excellent...wonderful ambience in a truly majestic chateau.

Hello dc:

You may wish to consider la Cheneviere, an SLH hotel a few km outside Bayeux toward Port en Bessim. We spent a week there a few years ago and dined in the restaurant almost every night. We found it to be terrific. Gradyghost

The best meal we had in France one trip was at Le Petit Bistro in Bayeux, just across from the cathedral. We were the only Americans. Small, mom and pop. Make a reservation. Wonderful.

As I wrote to the OP, it's sheer charm. You'll enjoy it, I'm sure. We still rank it on our Top Ten List of lodgings around the world, even though we stayed there last in 2001. At that time the rates were much lower than now, and the restaurant (a one-star) was incredibly reasonable. The solarium where breakfast is served is delightful with views of the back gardens. I hope you get a room in the main house...we had one on the third floor (top floor) with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside and the "front yard" ...one slight problem..no elevators so you have to lug the luggage...I don't recall any staff help for that little task...but small price to pay for the luxury of it all...large rooms and bathrooms.

Just a few kms from Bayeux, walkable if you wish. It's on the main road to the D-Day sites and Port au Bessin.

Stu T. ENJOY!

Thanks much. I'll let you know if it's the same.

Ask for room 25 on the third floor...great front view..large room and bathroom. At least that's what I have written in my journal. Be sure to have one dinner there also.
