Restaurants at Royal Albert Hall
 

We have tickets for a Proms concert in September at Royal Albert Hall. Are any of the restaurants there to be recommended? Or can someone suggest a restaurant close by? We're looking for a place not too expensive, in the moderate range. Thanks.

There are lots of pubs and restaurants in the streets around South Kensington tube station. We have usually ended up in an Italian place - hardly fine dining, but cheerful service and a good atmosphere. I am sure you will find somewhere to suit your mood and appetite on the day, without worrying too much in advance. The area is within a 20 minute walk of the Albert Hall.

Angelsea Arms - good, reasonable pub food on Onslow Gardens below Old Brompton Road

Duke of Clarence - another pub, a bit more modern with good food and very reasonable

Thank you Lizzie for your suggestions. I'm wondering if anyone has eaten at any of the restaurants IN Royal Albert Hall. It would be convenient to eat there right before a concert.

Bit off topic, but you might want to consider a guided tour of the RAH. Offered in the afternoon, it takes you to all the levels, the royal boxes,etc.. It also happened to be the time that the performers on stage that night were doing a sound check, so that was neat. Not sure if the tours are offered during Proms.

When I'm going to the Albert Hall - I generally eat elsewhere. Places get pretty crowded in the immediate vicinity. I'll eat in Covent Garden, Chinatown - basically anyplace easily accessible by tube.

Or south of Cromwell / Brompton rds.
