Restaurants at Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof?

Has anyone eaten at Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof to recommend it or say no?

On a previous thread I posted for restaurants in Grindelwald for an Anniversary dinner this was never mentioned.

Since it is part of the Romantik Hotel chain, I'm asuming it must be pretty decent, but maybe not?

Anyone been there or heard good or bad?

I ate there in the early 90s, but that's too long ago to be good for a valid recommendation. It was superb, though, as I recall. Still researching?

Hi Ingo

Yes still researching! I don't want to leave any stones unturned! I love the real life opinions and information from this site and Trip Advisor.

Seems odd a fancy place like this doesn't get much attention, not even much on a google search.

4 weeks from yesterday we will have arrived in Darmstadt and be getting ready to head towards Switzerland.

Grindelwald and Guarda are still the two main places ~ I stuck with Guarda instead of switching to Scuol. Figured we'll be happy in the evenings drinking wine with the cows and talking together. And Soglio, Bernina Express and Scuol, Ardez, Tarasp, Fex Valley etc should hold our attention during the days!

Have booked two nights after Guarda in Weggis, but I'm still working on some of the days at the beginning of the trip. Gengenbach Meersburg and Stein am Rhein region or Appenzell, can't decide. I'm sure it will come to me at 3AM some morning!

Thanks for the input

Wrenwood,

You may want to consider the restaurant at the Hotel Belvedere. We have stayed there 2 times now and have never been disappointed by the dinners there. The Chef is excellent and the wine list is extensive, and the views are exceptional.

Thanks DKW, the website picture looks like there are a limited number of tables with a view?

And my experience has been that hotel restaurants reserve their limited view tables for hotel guests. Rightfully so.
Wrenwood, I've seen the Schweizerhof sitting on the edge of town and it's a pretty place, but I've really never heard anything about it.

For anyone interested this is from gemut.com

Schweizerhof
The restaurant at the Schweizerhof is charming; expansive and open, with sturdy wood beams, pastel table linens, an old tile oven and tons of character. It's been renovated without losing too much of its sense of tradition. One exceptional dining area has a terra-cotta floor, iron gates, scrollwork along the moldings and wood columns carved and painted with the signs of the zodiac.
The menu features imaginative approaches to traditional dishes. Guests can order entres in either a large or, for about two-thirds the price, small version. The reduced size is enough for many, especially if preceded by an appetizer. Main dishes include lamb cutlets in a Rösti (fried potato) crust, beef fillet with vodka whole-ground mustard sauce, and poached sole stuffed with freshwater crayfisheach for about CHF 42 ($30) for a large portion and CHF 31 ($22) for the smaller size. A superb first course is carpaccio of smoked duck breast with apricot chutney and fresh shaved parmesan.
