Restaurants around Sarlat?
 

We are renting a house for 2 weeks in the Dordogne. We are in a tiny berg but can drive to a good recommendation. We are near Le Buge, actually. Do you have any restaurant recommendations?

The Restaurant at the Hotel Bonnet is very good (Beynac).

We were in Sarlat in March and very much enjoyed these 3 restaurants: Le Tourny, Rossignol and Le Buffon (sp.?)

We had a wonderful meal at Les Trois As in Le Bugue last May. The owner there suggested lunch at Maison Martine which is just outside of Le Bugue. We enjoyed quiche, salad and desserts at Maison Martine the next day. We mentioned that Helene sent us and were given complimentary dessert wine.
I would definitely go back to both of these restaurants.

We were in the dordogne a couple of weeks ago and stumbled into Delices d'Hortense for lunch. It was a real treat. Not too pricey for a Michelin one star, absolutely beautifully decorated--kind of cute actually, and great food. I would recommend it highly. Also the ladies who lunch there made for fun people watching. A really worthwhile stop. We didn't get to La Plume d'Oie but I sure wanted to. Looks absolutely darling and comes well recommended by Stu Dudley also. The Sarlate market was fabulous. It takes over the entire town on Saturday. We ate at Rapiere there and liked it very much. The entire area is enchanting and there are plenty of nice places to eat.

A few years ago, I stayed at a lovely manor house/inn about 2 miles North of Sarlat in the hamlet of Argentouleau. The name of the place is Hostellerie du Meysset. It is a lovely place up in the hills surrounding Sarlat with outdoor seating in good weather with lovely views of the Vezere valley i.e Caveman central!! The food was quite good with polished, relaxed service. The owners, Mr and Mrs Brottier were delightful hosts. Drop me a line if you need more info..

Le Trois As is Le Bugue no longer exists, or else it's way down at the end of the rue de Paris and no longer in its central location at the Royal Vézère Hotel. It's been replaced by L'Oustalou, which was very good when I had dinner there last. Get a table on the balcony overlooking the river.

The Manoir de Bellerive has lost its Michelin star and is not worth visiting IMO - mediocre food and poor service.

La Table de Terroir in La Chapelle-Aubareil is worth the drive.

L'Aubrevoir right in Le Bugue isn't bad at all.

Les Fontenilles on the road from Le Bugue to Campagne has changed owners and is no longer worth a visit.

Le Centenaire in Les Eyzies is regarded as the best restaurant in the Dordogne. It's expensive. Go for lunch.

We've had several exceptional meals at the restaurant in La Couleuvrine hotel in Sarlat. If you see a lemon tart on the dessert menu, be sure to save room, or, better, eat dessert first.
