Restaurants around London Bridge
 

I have become a South East London Girl, since moving here. I rarely visit Kensington, Chelsea or Knightsbridge anymore - there is enough to amuse me in Borough and Bermondsey.

I thought I would start a thread to share some restaurant recommendations in the area.

Boro Bistro
I had lunch here a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. It has a large open air area in front, which is perfect for enjoying a sunny afternoon in London.

I would combine it with a visit to Tower of London, Borough Market (NEVER on a Saturday, when it is sheer HELL!) and the Tate Modern.

Boro Bistro has established itself as a tiny slice of France in London. Situated in the leafy shade of Southwark Cathedral and neighbouring Borough market. Boro Bistro proposes a nice bistro French food with large wine list, tasty Belgium & Craft beers, great range of platters of French cheese and charcuterie to share with friends and family.

If you want evening cocktails in a very swanky hotel, check out the roof-top bar in the Mondrian. Great hotel to stay in also.

Sea Containers at the Mondrian is also very good, plus Le Pont de la Tour which has great views of Tower Bridge (not London Bridge.)

My family has stayed there a couple of times, and I with them. I love the rooms, they deliver great service, excellent breakfast and if you book ahead you can get great rates.

Le Pont de la Tour is also a favorite on a sunny day. It can be expensive, but they have a fixed priced lunch menu on Saturday and Sunday which is not too expensive. Great fish.

I have not eaten here, but have been a few times for wine. Great wine bar, good selection, in a pub setting.

You know an area has 'arrived' if Hakesmoor opens a restaurant! Hakesmoor is probably my favorite in London for steak and roast beef. I have dined in a few of their establishments, but have yet to try out this one. My niece, who lives in Borough, has and claims it is as good as the others. Try the Sunday Roast.

An on-going favorite of mine - I dine there regularly for lunch on the weekend. Late lunch on Saturday is preferred, when the market is quieter. I dig into the Oysters and prawns and occasionally have the seafood platter. Seafood is always fresh and delicious. Restaurant is small and cramped.

People rave about their hot chocolate on a cold winter's day. I go there for the occasional glass of wine. I have dined in the restaurant, which overlooks the interior of Borough Market and was very happy.

I have been to Aqua twice for dinner - not bad food and incredible view of course.

I have been to Hutong twice for weekend dim sum. Good food and excellent surroundings.

Thank you, OReilly. I can only speak for Cinq, a little sandwich spot in Hays Galleria for your office worker grabbing a lunchtime bite. Part of a chain, I think.

My co worker took me to tea on top of the Shard. She didn't think much of the tea but the view was great.
