restaurants and cafes on rue de bac 7th
My son and I are staying in an apartment on the rue de bac, near Bon Marche.
Does anyone have any favourite restaurants/cafes in/near this area? |
apologies, should be .."my son and I will be staying.."
|
If you do a search for "rue Cler restaurants" there are a number of posts including mine. MANY MANY excellent places to eat.
|
Apologies. I saw "7th" and answered. These aren't too far but not exactly the area I thought you were asking about. Still good info on that thread.

Do you know about pagesjaunes.com? Go to the website & plug in your address. You'll see the outside of your building & you can then "walk" the camera up & down the street to see what else is there.
I know I've been to restos on Rue de Bac but can't remember names right now! |
One of my favorites is La Petite Chaise at 36 rue de Grenelle, which is within walking distance from your apartment. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Paris, wonderful food and friendly service. Menus around 30-35€.

There's a good cafe called Le St. Germain that's at the intersection of rue de Bac and Blvd. St. Germain.

I think there are some easier mapping tools for that than trying to click on every address in pagesjaunes. I like www.ismap.fr because if you put in your apt's address, and then click on the "sortie" knife/fork icon, it will mark all restaurants (and give names and addresses in a list below) within a few blocks of the address. I find this map tool really convenient (you can also click icons for hotels, shops, etc). They do not list every single places, I've noticed, but they do list a lot of them.
I haven't stayed in that area, but know there are several good small restaurants/bistros on nearby rue Pierre Leroux (to the SW a couple blocks). That's sort of a "restaurant street". |
Wow, thanks for that link Christina. How cool is that!!

Kimerley,
My husband and I stayed in a hotel near the Bon Marche, and Le Nemrod at 51 RUE DU CHERCHE MIDI was on my list as being not too far and very good and also Au Vieux Colombier at 65 RUE DE RENNES. The Poîlane bakery on the rue de Cherche Midi is not far from there, and as I recall a nicer restaurant, L'Epi Dupin, at 11 RUE DUPIN is fairly close to there. Best, Sandy |
Sandy nailed my favs in the area, Le Nemrod for casual...steak, salads,Auvergne dishes along with Beaujolais wines. Epi Dupin for more upscale, inventive cuisine at moderate prices...reservations a must. Another good spot is La Cigale on rue Chomel for a selection of soufflés. Since you will be in an apartment, you can take advantage of Le Grand Epicerie at Bon Marché.

thank you so much for your great suggestions....can't wait..

Sandy, thanks for the info on the mapping tool. It's that kind of sharing that makes this forum so swell--kind of teaching us to fish rather than giving us lunch, sort of thing.
