Restaurant with View?
 

I waited much too long to make a reservation for early March for Jules Verne restaurant. Fully booked for dinner through the end of May. I'm not interested in lunch, can anyone recommend another restaurant with a view! Merci

Hi, Patty, <BR>La Tour d'Argent, with Notre Dame out the window. Famous view, historic restaurant. http://www.tourdargent.com/ <BR> <BR>For lunch (sadly not open at night,) the main cafe in the Musee d'Orsay is simply not to be missed IMO.

Tour d'Argent does have a wonderful view, try to request a table near a window. It should be gorgeous at night. <BR>I happen to think the food is better at Les Ambassadeurs, the 3-star restaurant in the Crillon Hotel. Over-the-top ornate setting, view is of Place de la Concorde,not as serenely beautiful as the view at Tour d'A. in my opinion.

I searched for Montparnasse, and got the e-mail address of these people - - [email protected] - - they rent out temporary office space on the 33rd floor, and mention a restaurant as an amenity of the building. Wrote to them inquiring, and they reply as follows: <BR> <BR>"Le Ciel de Paris" is the restaurant of the Montparnasse Tower. It's located at the 56ème Floor and the telephone number is 01.40.64.77.64 <BR> <BR>Anybody ever been to this place? Surely it has a nice view. <BR> <BR>I'll try searching the name of this place on some restaurant websites next. <BR> <BR>Rex <BR> <BR>

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. <BR>Hey Rex, I found some information regarding Montarnasse Tour in my Paris Mapguide brochure. I says "from the 56th and 59th floors a complete view of Paris in all directions can be seen. It has an open air roof terrace, shops and a restaurant. Without the panache of the Eiffel Tower and usually no queues and not as crowded. Daily Oct-Mar 10:00 - 21:00 April - September 09:00 - 23:00. Charge. Restaurant on 56th floor midday to 02.00." The address is 33 Av. du Maine 75015. Sounds good to me....I wonder if anyone has eaten there?

If on Jan 26 Jules Verne is booked through May, How Far In Advance is it necessary to book for an early Sept. evening?? <BR> <BR>Does every Jules Verne table have a view? (sorry, this sounds like a stupid question, but I must ask!) <BR>Thanks <BR>

I think it is safe to say that Jules Verne has its reservation book open now for ALL of 2000, and probably further in to 2001 than you and I can imagine. If you know you want to go there in September, I can't think of any reason NOT to book now! <BR> <BR>It's amazing to me, when I think back to getting a table there with only about 3 or 4 days notice in August 1994. <BR> <BR>And yes, more or less every table has a view, as I recall. Not every table is immediately adjacent to a window per se, but the layout (again, relying on 5 year old memory) is pods all around the periphery with the kitchen etc. in the center. I doubt that any table is more than 10-15 feet from a window and it's just a very, very special place. I am pretty sure that we were on the Trocadero side looking down at the fountains - - not that any other side wouldn't be special also! <BR> <BR>Glad to have that memory again! <BR> <BR>Rex

Marion, I agree with Rex, if I were you I would book now. Someone had told me to book four months in advance, but I thought five weeks would be sufficient, especially in March! Wrong! <BR> <BR>Does anyone know if it is possible to have a drink instead of a dinner at Jules Verne? Or maybe another restaurant/bar with a view for a drink.
