Restaurant with the greatest view of the Parthenon?

Will be in Athens in May 2008 and would like to have dinner at a restaurant that has a great view of the Parthenon. Can you please make a recommendation?

The Grande Bretagne has a fabulous view of the Parthenon at the bar/restaurant on the 8th floor. If you can't afford the restaurant, go for cocktails. Amazing!

Another recommendation for the 8th floor restaurant at The Grande Bretagne. Skip dinner if you can, and try to go around twilight for drinks when you might have a chance of nabbing one of the outdoor cocktail tables.

Strofi Tavern, at 25 Rovertou Galli in a non-touristy neighborhood south of Plaka and the Acropolis, has a spectacular view. The restaurant is popular with locals and tourists.

We just got back from Greece last night (and working on trip report) but the view from the 8th floor restaurant/bar of the Athens Gate Hotel is truly amazing. [The front of the hotel faces the Temple of Olympic Zeus, so that view is also very impressive] The hotel is literally less than 5 min walk from entry gate to the Acropolis, so that should give you an idea of how close it is. It also faces the south view of the Parthenon which, at least at the moment, has no scaffolding so it's really an incredible view. Food is very good and quite reasonable (specials are usually in the mid-20 Euro range).

I agree for Athens Gate Hotel rooftop restaurant. Been there 3 times. Wonderful experience seeing the Acropolis and Parthenon. I think there may even be a light show of some kind.

Rooftop restaurant of St. George Lycabettus Hotel. View can't be beat. Our Greek hosts took us here. View is on their website.

To see how close The Athens Gate is to the Parthenon, see www.athensgate.gr and click on their Gallery. The picture is not an exaggeration.

dfr, is it possible to go to Athens Gate just for a drink, or is that view only accessible if you sit down for a full dinner?
