restaurant w/eiffel tower view

hi there! Going to paris for the second time in July. Am spending my birthday there, and was hoping to have dinner in a restaurant with an eiffel tower view...nothing too pricey (i.e. no le cinq), but can be a special occasion place. any suggestions?

thanks in advance for the advice!

Lately, everyone swoons at the view from the Branly museum's restaurant Les Ombres (sp?)

robespierre - thank you for the suggestion. have you eaten here? how is the food?

I have googled les ombres and found it mentioned on some blogs with pics...it looks amazing...but i cannot find a website for the restaurant...any ideas?

I haven't been there for a few years, but my recollection is the meal was about an 8½. It was probably overpriced by 20%, but the view was worth it.

Les Ombres at Quai Branley is 90 Euros per person and requires reservations at least two weeks in advance. We didn't eat there, but did eat at Cafe de L'Homme, which I highly recommend. Eat outdoors in the evening and have a fabulous view of the Eiffel Tower and a very good meal for much less than Les Ombres. It's at 17, place du Trocadero (16th arr.) tel: 1 44 05 30 15. Reservations necessary for evening, but not for lunch.

Actually, the tasting menu has gone up to 95 Euro, since I was there last September. I've recommended it many times on this board.

Some people like eating at Chez Francis at Alma-Marceau.

I haven't been but have seen favorable reviews of this cafe that has an outdoor eating area. There is a map on the site too so you can see that it is in the area of the Trocadero.

THAT'S the view from Cafe de l'Homme!

Are the outdoor tables at Cafe de l'Homme reserved for those getting a full dinner? Could you go there just for dessert? I was thinking of doing a little restaurant hopping for something different (on a future trip) and thought that would be a great way to finish up the evening

Sorry I can't help with your question kwren as I've not been yet. You might want to start a new thread to get the attention of those that have been there.
