One of the reasons why we enjoyed Brussels so much was the restaurants ! Unfortunately it's been two or three years since we were there so I forgot most of of them except for two which I still remember due to their simple names:

LE PETIT BOXEUR: Simple small restaurant but surprisingly a very good foodie restaurant. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the fact that they painted the walls black. Found this review on the internet:

LE MANUFACTURE:
Funky old factory turned into a restaurant with a hard to find location that even our taxi driver couldn't find. Definitely worth the effort. Found a review on the internet:

There were so many great restaurants that we enjoyed and scheduled our day accordingly, I wished I could remember the other names. In any case we had one good meal after another for the entire 3 night stay. I'm sure you'll have a great foodie adventure in Brussels.

I'm a Belgian and I live in Brussels. I would reccomand the Sainte Cathérine nabourhoud.

For the moment very good restaurant with typical Brussels dishes ; Viva 'm Boma. Nice bars : Monk, Roskam, Daringman!!

Yes. I'd like to know good restaurants near the fine arts museums and near the EU offices.

Near the Place Royal you'll find the museum of modern art, old art, BOZAR and the instrumental museum. Also several other nice places, on a 5 minutes walk from the central station.

The nicest restaurant/bar in that area is on the top floor of the instrumental museum. It is a wonderful art nouveau building (Old England). The service is not good, the food is not very tasty but you can go up for a drink and enjoy that impressive view on Brussels en the extra-ordinary architecture of the building.

Near EU you have de square in front of the train station called : Bruxelles Luxembourg or you can take a train of metro to the center of town. Secret tip : visit de Wiertz museum in the rue Wierts, it's free and you won't believe what you see.

Nessundorma, if you can get to Tervuren, go and have lunch/dinner at De Linde. It's a small restaurant but they serve the most wonderful classic French cuisine. Reservations are essential! Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Good places to eat near the EU offices:
L'Esprit de Sel brasserie on Place Jourdan has good Belgian/French style cuisine and a nice terrace, and a decent set menu for around 25 euros.

On the same square is the famous Maison Antoine, supposedly *the* best place to sample Belgian frites (and they are pretty good) - after you've bought your frites you can take them to one of the cafés on the place and order a beer to wash them down (the bars that let you do this have little signs in the window saying you are allowed to eat your frites there).

Also on Place Jourdan is Au Vatel, an excellent patisserie and tea room that serves light lunches, snacks, cakes etc.

Nearby on the pedestrian section of Chaussée de Wavre (just off place Jourdan) is an excellent ice cream place and restaurant called Capoue. It's divided into two with a more casual café on one side and an adjoining dining room that's a bit more upscale (serving a more extensive menu). They do lovely quiches and salads, and they always give you a teeny scoop of ice cream and little piece of cake for dessert when you order coffee after your meal.

A nice place to eat near Place Luxembourg is Mediterraneo, on rue de Trèves. It's a bright airy Italian place with a lovely garden and good value pizza and pasta dishes, salads, antipasti, etc. It's only open for lunch, Mondays to Fridays.

I second the recommendation for the restaurant at the Musical Instruments Museum. (When we went the service was fine and the food decent, if not memorable). It's worth it for the view.
