Restaurant suggestion Madrid
Greetings
Wife and I have a one night layover in Spain; staying at the Westin in Madrid after two weeks in central Europe. Can the forum suggest a tradtional Spanish restaurant nearby? Thank you. |
Hi,
One of my all time favorites in Madrid, which is very traditional, specializes in lamb, is Posada de la Villa http://www.posadadelavilla.es/ It is near Plaza Mayor, you can go walking from the Westin Palace, takes around 15 mins. Before or after dinner you can enjoy walking around Plaza Mayor. |
Click on my name for my Madrid trip report. Skip the restaurant and do the tapas crawl. Juanalaloca is a must.

CASA ALBERTO at calle Huertas 18 (a walkable distance). Charming tavern established in 1827 on the street level of the house where Cervantes lived briefy in Madrid. Local cuisine. Open: 12 noon to 1:30 AM. Closed on Sunday evening and Monday. Recs: rabo de buey (oxtail stew), callos a la Madrileña (tripe cooked with a bit of chilli), a rare delicacy: manitas de cordero (lamb trotters), besugo (red bream with sauce). Dessert: leche frita (fried custard squares).

I've eaten at Casa Alberto as well. The were actually the restaurant recommended by the Westin. Very close to the hotel and pretty good. Nice service and a pleasant atmosphere.
For tapas, I really like Casa Toni at Calle Cruz 21, which is only 0.6km from the Westin. |
Casa Toni at Calle de la Cruz is authentic!
