Restaurant suggestion
Arrving this coming Saturday and would like a suggestion for a restaurant in the 1st Arr. We are staying at Hotel Lotti and I would like something close by and must make a reservation very soon. Doesn't need to be ultra expensive but nice and cozy.
|
I suppose that the "1st Arr" reference is enough for some people to know that you are asking about Paris (where the Hotel Lotti is).

but you would do youeself well to mention "Looking for restaurant recommendation in Paris 1st Arr" in the title (message header) to get quicker and/or more numerous replies.

I don't personally know favorite restaurants in that area of Paris. Sorry.

Best wishes,

Rex
A wine bar called Juveniles on the Rue de Richlieu. Give Tim (the owner) a kiss from Chicago. Great wine, good food, very convivial and easy to negotiate on your first night. (lots of English spoken)
|
Juvenile is good and so is it's big brother Willie's Wine Bar around the corner at 13 rue des Petits Champs. If you want a great bistro setting go to La Robe et le Palais at 13, rue des Lavandières Ste Opportune Tel: 01 45 08 07 41. I ate there about 3 weeks ago. Fantastic!
Bon voyage,
Gregg

Thank you Gregg and Janince for your recommendations and Rex, I really feel sorry for you.
|
Thank you for the kind remarks Gail.

Before I posted that you were talking about Paris, you got no answers. After I posted, you got answers.

I love it when facts speak for themselves.
Rex is right. He replied 22 minutes after the original post. The next reply was only 20 minutes after "HIS" post. Geesh!
|
Gail, Rex always corrects everyone as he believes he knows everything.

Assuming it's still there:
near Place de la Concorde, is Lescure on rue Mondavi. Good, plain, French food. They dont take reservations, at least they didn't used to.

More expensive that that is Le Souffle which is well-known. If you dine early there, say before 8:30pm, it will be almost all tourists, "not that there's anything wrong with that."
36 rue du Mont Thabor. They have a non-smoking section if that interests you, but it's in the rear room.

Your hotel can reserve for you.

The 1st is not good restaurant country imo, even though I love staying in that area. There are too many tourist traps, for example, along rue de Rivoli.I fyou feel that you could go a little further afield (like a 5 minute cab ride)
my old favorite restaurant is Chez Julien, in the 4th, corner of 1 rue Pont Louis Philippe and 62 rue de lHotel de Ville. It is simple but
pretty and cozy, with very good food. Not very dressy, but not jeans

Gail - don't jump on Rex. He was (maybe a little overbearing) only trying to help. Look at how the forum works . . . .

There is no France or Paris board. Your "Restaurant suggestion" title could have been about ANYWHERE in Europe. This type of question would normally get 20 or more useful replies within an 2 hours or so but it took yours two days to get 4 with useful information (I am only counting the ones with info - not Rex's or the Rex-bashing ones)

So - for future reference, if you post better titles you will get better response.
