Restaurant Recommendations in the 5th Arrondissment
 

I've been researching restaurants near the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles where we'll be staying this December. Does anyone recommend restaurants in this area? We may splurge one night (I have the Paris Zagat guide and am leaning towards La Truffiere, if they ever email me back) - but I'd prefer something more local, classic French bistro without the high prices. This is possible in Paris, oui? :o)

Le Pre Verre, Le Petit Prince de Paris, Les Fetes Galantes.

I really like Chez Lena et Mimile at 32 rue Tournefort. It's a typical small French restaurant, with good service and food. I think I spent about 35-40 euro per person with wine.

You won't lack for good/great places to eat in the area.

Do check out Le Reminet, 3 rue des Grands-Degres. A tiny place just across the river from Notre Dame. It is wonderful and not at all pricey for the quality.

Also, I just posted a question regarding purchasing train tickets in advance - we just need two one-way tickets on separate days, the first being from Paris to Epernay and the second, from Strasbourg to Paris. Seems pricey if I buy them through Rail Europe and I don't need that extra day with the package! Thanks again.

We have eaten at Le Papoulette several times and never have been disappointed. Dinner for two with wine is less than 50 USD. It is just off Mouffetard--walk up the street from Place Monge Metro and continue across Mouffetard--this becomes a small alley like street that has lots of restaurants--it will be on the left side.

What is the name of the family restaurant around the corner from Hotel Bonaparte? I ate there on my last trip and want to go back again with the family. They recommended it at the hotel and forgot the name and the street it was on. It was one the older restaurants in the area. The lunch was excellent and a real bargain.Please let me know. Thanks,
