Restaurant Recommendations in Nice, St. Remy & Avignon?

Hi All - Any restaurant recommendations for Nice, St. Remy and Avignon? Looking for places with atmosphere and of course, great food! Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

P.S. Any pastisserie recommendations would also be helpful - we probably will not eat breakfast at our hotels as it is not included and we're thinking we can get better breakfasts elsewhere...Do you agree??

Our 4 favorites in Nice are la Pizza (the world's best, but there is more to the menu than the superlative pizza), on the rue Masséna near the rue Halévy; l'Ecurie, in Vieux Nice at 4, rue du Marché; la Voglia (great Italian food, large portions), on the Cours Saléya; and the Café de Turin, which features a wide variety of seafood.

A few years ago we had a fantastic dinner at RESTAURANT CHRISTIAN ETIENNE, 10 rue de Mons , Avignon. Very clever ( and tasty) food, an excellent cheese table as well.

A few years back we went to a lovely one star restaurant in St. Remy called Maison Jaune, http://www.lamaisonjaune.info/saint_...helin_chef.htm

The only issue was that our friend's kids who were travelling with us were around 8 and 12 at the time and the slow pace of the French dining style was a bit long for them-but the adults had a blast :)

Had a great meal at Le Grand Cafe in Avignon.

We dined there with our the host and hostess, Christian and Francoise, from this fantastic bed and breakfast about 10 minutes outside the city.

I know you didn't ask about accommodations, but this place was one we'll never forget. I was there with my wife and two friends with whom we travel ferquently. We felt like we were part of the family. Each day, we'd come back from a long day of touring and Christian would meet us in the beautiful rear garden, with at least one bottle of wine. In our 7 nights there, they made dinner for us twice - one was included in the original offer, and other guests were present. Mid-week, we invited them to join us for a dinner out one evening, and they took us to Le Grand Cafe. And on our last night, they invited us into their kitchen for a special family meal, just the six of us. Wonderful, lovely people!

Nice-La Meranda, beaware unless it's changed, no reservations or credit cards but a true Provencal dining experience.
Nissa Socca for the towns famous socca, but many stands you can buy it on the run. There's a wonderful sandel maker in the old town
Avignon, I loved the Bain de Marie, Christian Etienne,
Heily Lucullas, and La Vielle Fontaine(on the terrace) in the Hotel Europe, where I spent a night
St Remy-Alan Assaud, Chez XA,, Cafe des Alpilles for people watching. By sure to try the chocolates at Joel Durand and forget the name of an incredible cookie store next door.
