Restaurant recommendations for Malta?
Leaving in a few weeks for 10 days in Malta. Does anyone have any recommendations for good restaurants in Valletta, Sliema, St. Julian's Bay areas? Especially for fish or seafood. We're planning on checking out some of the little waterfront cafes in Marsaxxlok, etc., but will likely end up back at the hotel (the Waterfront) around dinner time. I've done a search here and didn't find much, hoping someone has additional advice to offer.
Thanks in advance.

I wasn't impressed with the food in Malta so can't give you any real recommendations. I liked a restaurant in St. Julians that was on the water with a large deck. Someone in the group had octupus salad and said it was very good and I remember the pasta I had was good. The restaurant is Paparazzi. The bus stopped near the restaurant.
I think if you stick with fish you will have a better dinner than if you choose meat. I'm looking at my trip report and see that we ate at La Vigna in Sliema (on the harbor side) and my lamb was tough but the others had fish and said it was delicious.
If you're in Valletta at lunch time I would eat at Caffe Cordina since they have outside seating. The food was OK, nothing great but the service was really bad so don't hesitate to flag down the waiters.
We also ate at Cocopazzo in Valletta which we were told was supposed to be a good restaurant but again my veal was tough. I'm not sure how veal could be tough but it was.
I really enjoyed Marsaxxlok. The best day is Sunday with the large market. It was quiet during the week.
Let me know if you need any more info on Malta. I thoroughly enjoyed the 12 days I spent there. I did write a trip report and posted here but it's lost its indexing so is a pain to find. You have to click on my screen name and search past post 250.

Thanks very much for the info. Not many contributors here have been to Malta so there's not much info available. I was there 11 years ago and assume much has changed. I think we had lunch at the Cafe Cordina, but inside, and the food was not memorable. We love eating outdoors on vacation (not many opportunities here in NH), so if the weather cooperates (11/20-29), I'm sure we'll check out Cordina's patio.
I'm going to look for your trip report and will be back.
Thanks again.

Adrienne: I found and printed your Most Excellent trip report! What a labor of love and great job. It reminds me of the many things I enjoyed about my earlier trip and is giving me some ideas and helpful hints for the next one.
Thanks so much.
p.s. right now it's #282 on the list of posts after clicking on your name.

Well, I WAS kind of surprised at how many pages it printed; it didn't seem that long when I was reading it. But I want my S.O. to read it (he hasn't been there before) and I know he won't sit at the computer long enough to read it. You included just the right amount of detail and reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the trip.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
