Restaurant recommendation for wedding lunch in Paris

We are getting married in Paris in Sept 2013 on a Saturday and are looking for recommendations for a private dining room for about 16 people for lunch at 1.30pm in central Paris. Would love some suggestions as traveling over from Australia.

Best to include how much you wish to pay, per person, including wine etc. to get helpful answers.

I would be very interested to know how you are coming from Australia to get married in Paris, as I know that even when you live/work/pay taxes here the whole process is very long, bureaucratic and difficult! Is one of you French?

I don't have any recommendations for you, unfortunately, as I got married just outside of Paris in St-Germain-en-Laye, and we don't often eat out in the city centre. I enjoy eating at the Bistro du 17è occasionally, but don't know if they do weddings.

Hopefully others will come along with more suggestions.

And it would be useful to know where in Paris you are being married.

Hi All. Thanks for your questions!
We are getting married in a symbolic ceremony in a garden near Notre Dame.
We are just looking for a nice restaurant to have a celebratory lunch in central Paris.
Budget is around €100 per person. It doesn't need to be a venue that will host a formal wedding we just would like some suggestions as not from the area. It is hard to pick from websites alone!
Looking forward to your responses!

Some ideas if you want to go casual -

Les Saisons in the 9th has an upstairs area that you could probably privatize http://www.restaurant-les-saisons.com/

Les Papilles in the 5th has a basement cellar though I'm not sure if it will seat 16 http://www.lespapillesparis.fr/

I believe Maceo in the 1st has private rooms http://www.maceorestaurant.com/

Sola in the 5th has a basement area that you may be able to privatize http://www.restaurant-sola.com/ This is a Michelin starred restaurant but on the casual end.

I missed your budget. In that case, you could check if Kei http://restaurantkei.comavoo.fr// or L'Auberge du 15 http://www.laubergedu15.com/index.php will allow you to book the restaurant in its entirety.

Although I have not eaten here it has been on my list of places to try in Paris. I have read several trip reports where Chez Fernand was highly recommended. Plus it is within a 10 min walk from Notre Dame

Chez Fernand
9 Rue Christine
75006 Paris, France
Tel. +33 (0) 1 43 54 61 47
Opening Hours: Lunch & Dinner: Open 7 days

I am having trouble pulling it up on iPad, but I *think* Jules Verne" in the Eiffel Tower has a prix fixe lunch for 85€. We had dinner their last year and it was certainly a me,or able meal!

Le Reminet has a basement seating area that is very comfortable and pleasant. They will even do a special menu for your group. I have had several private parties there. It is a5 minute walk from ND.

Thanks for the recommendations so far I will look at each of them
If anyone has any other ideas would be great if the websites can be translated to English

What about The Tour d'Argent, they may have a lunch special and the views are stunning.

Do all the restaurants in Paris close at 2.30pm? can you ask them to stay open for a little longer 3.30 or 4pm if having a later lunch for wedding 1.30pm-3.30/4pm??

jamikins Feb 25th, 2013 03:12 AM

Most close for a period in the afternoon, at least the nicer ones you are looking at.

I dont think we can answer your questions about staying open - you would have to contact them directly and ask!

Patty Feb 25th, 2013 07:38 AM

My understanding is that is the last reservation time not the actual closing time. I've made reservations for 1:30pm or later at restaurants that list 12-2pm as their lunch service and stayed past 4pm.

Christina Feb 25th, 2013 09:32 AM

You can ask anything, a lot of restaurants do close in the middle of the afternoon, the ones I know you couldn't stay until 4 pm, they are closed. That isn't really lunch time, they don't want staff there all day.

I would really consider going with La Tour d'Argent. They have a lunch prix fixe for only 75 euro and do take groups. The standard lunch menu allows for a couple choices, also. I think that would be quite an experience for everyone. I don't know their hours.

Patty Feb 25th, 2013 10:11 AM

To clarify, my experiences were at higher end restaurants where it wouldn't be possible to finish a meal by 2pm even with a 12pm reservation. And they do close between lunch and dinner service which doesn't usually start until 8pm.
