Restaurant in London lit entirely by firelight?
I remember reading on the internet somewhere about a restaurant in London that is lit entirely by firelight. I cannot find it again. Does anyone have any info on this restaurant?
Thanks Angela |
It's as much a bar as a restaurant and it's called CVO Firevault. I've never been so I can't tell you anymore than it's mane

Not sure about that, though I did read in the Telegraph a few days ago that there is a new restaurant in London that is entirely unlit (staffed by blind people, because it's no big deal for them). Kind of an adventure finding your food and figuring out what it is (it's a set menu, and they don't say what's on it).

Grsing: is this really TRUE???? I will be in London next month but I just cannot believe this is for real or am I the biggest sucker on this board today???

grsing,
There is already one in Paris that is the same thing.....dark and staffed by the blind |
The Blind Cow in Zurich was featured on NPR about a year ago and from a quick google search, looks like there are quite a few dark establishments around Europe (Paris, London, couple in Germany...) and Australia.

Yep, it's definitely true: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...02/nrest02.xml

I mentioned Firevault in a posting on this site last week, I believe. We have been a few times and just love it...Very dark with modern gas fireplaces, white curtains. fantastic cocktails and fairly reasonable food (2 courses are £28, I believe). A friend of mine recently went to the "dark" restaurant--Dans Le Noir. You choose your food from the menu in the bar area before moving to the restaurant--if you choose the surprise menu you will have no idea what you're eating!
