Restaurant des Beaux Arts in Paris reopened?

Some time ago, I read on Fodor's about a restaurant, which I was interested in, but then read that it had closed. That was the Restaurant des Beaux-Arts, on the rue Bonaparte. Recently, I read a trip report on tripadvisor, and again the Restaurant des Beaux-Arts was mentioned, but this one is on the rue Mazarine. Does anyone know if this is the old Restaurant des Beaux Arts, reponed at a different address or simply another restaurant of the same name?

I sure hope someone will know--the (original) Beaux Arts was where we had our first dinner in France. It was wonderful!

Three weeks ago we ate at a place on the corner of rue Bonaparte and quai Malaquais. It was defintely "des Beaux-Arts," but might have been called cafe des Beaux-Arts; I'll have to go back and check my picture album, because I remember getting a picture of it from the outside. If this sounds like the same place, then it is definitely open (and seemingly quite popular).

That's probably it then. Sorry for the false alarm.

That's where we ate! I remember, because I pigged out on the cheese plate. So as of three weeks ago, it is definitely there.

I don't know whether it is still there, but I think any neighborhood restaurant could appropriate the name if it were available. It is close to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts.

Thanks to all who responded! This is the restaurant I was talking about:

I thought it was the restaurant that was originally on the rue Bonaparte, but re-opened in another building, but it sounds like the original one is still open. Good to know

cigalechanta, thanks for the article... I'm checking that out too

We went past the original Café (then Restaurant) des Beaux Arts in September 2004, and it was all closed up. I think the one on the rue Mazarine must be a reincarnation or an entirely different restaurant.

Hi all,

The Cafe des Beaux Arts that used to be on the corner of Bonaparte and Beaux-Arts is no longer there.

The place on the quai Malaquais is called "Tabac des Beaux Arts".

Actually, the photograph I have of it indicates that it is, in fact, the Cafe des Beaux Arts. In any event, it doesn't seem to be the same place that sandypaws and Underhill visited. It DOES have good cheese plates, however!
