I've gotten senior PREM tickets several times - no, you don't need a card. However, they might ask for your ID on the train if they don't believe you're a senior. You are probably confused because there is a "Senior Card" which has even cheaper rates, I suppose, and which you buy for a period of time (a year?). Different deal altogether.

we just ordered Prem tickets for a September trip Paris to Avignon and found that the prem's were cheaper than the seniors rates so though we are all over 60 , we opted for the prem's . 45 euro one way Paris to Avignon. Hoe this helps.

Ira and Rosieg are right. The PREM tickets I have gotten had nothing to do with age. It's the senior rate ones that they might ask for ID. But again, that is different from the "senior card". Yes, the PREM rates are less than the senior rates. But you are stuck, in case you miss the train! I've taken my chances several times when I've flown into CDG and have PREM tickets to immediately leave CDG or Paris. But I've lucked out every time, as the flights have been on time.
