Restaurant Attire

My husband and I will be in Rome and Venice in October and have reservations at several upscale restaurants (for example: La Terraza in Rome). I'm wondering if anybody can provide a packing guideline for me in regard to ladies' attire in the nicer restaurants?
Thanks for any input and may you enjoy all of your travels...

I would suggest wearing just what you would wear to an upscale, stylish restaurant in your home country.

Packable, of course..

I've found a black silk skirt (mid calf) and a couple of fancy tops works well for me. The skirt is easy to iron so can be used as often as you need to. It also packs well; I roll mine up and put it into a box within the suitcase and it travels without getting creases.

Trousers are fine too - either as a suit or with a nice top. The key is color, style and quality. And a nice pair of shoes or boots - NO walking shoes.

I always travel in Europe with a mini-wardrobe of beautiful silk or challis shawls and scarves. They dress up basic sweaters and slacks/skirts, and with a fancy pair of earrings and the right shoes, I can go anywhere and look appropriately dressy. They don't weigh anything and take up no room in my luggage!

Buy one or two over there--check Ferragamo and similar boutiques for beautiful quality items. Then apply for the VAT tax refund.
