Restaruant close to Smeraldo in Rome? Ditrambo?

Looking for a place to eat close to Hotel Smeraldo when we arrive in Rome. Someone online recommended Ditrambo. Where is it from hotel? Any other suggestions? Moderate priced please (meals under 15 Euro?) Grazie.

I have no idea where that hotel is located, but you cannot eat at Ditirambo for less than 15 Euro per person. Sorry...

Yes, Ditirambo will be closer to 30 Euro per person although it is close to Smeraldo. For an inexpensive dinner, try the Filitarro di Santa Barbara which is around the corner from the Smeraldo in Largo di Librari. Only open in the evenings, it serves a Roman specialty, deep fried cod fish and vegetables. Delicious and somehow not greasy! There are some inexpensive pizzerias in Campo di Fiore as well as a branch of Insalatta Ricca and Da Baffetto Due nearby.

Could you please give me a bit more direction to Filitarro di Santa Barbara from Smeraldo?

It is in a small cul de sac off the Campo dei Fiori..near the Santa Barbara church, which is well worth visiting.
Great idea for an inexpensive dinner, as long as you like fish. Very cute place, too. Everyone will know it...

Tratorria Moderna is directly across from Hotel Smeraldo. They had my favorite fried artichoke dish while I was in Italy in May. There is also a cafe across the alley with pastries and sandwiches. You can certainly make a meal of their sandwiches/drinks for less than 15EU (certainly convenient to the hotel).

At Tratorria Moderna I enjoyed a seafood risotto with saffron. I believe this entree was just under 15EU, but don't have my exact notes with me. Let me know if you're interested and I'll pull my notes. Thanks!

FWIW: I didn't like Ditirambo when we dined there in March.

Food is fine but the all-male staff spend most of their time flirting with female patrons. Esp the manager.

(The silky manner can get starchy -- very starchy -- if, for example, you suggest they might have something better than that table by the kitchen door.........)

If the OP is a leggy Swedish blonde, she might indeed, for her 15 Euros, get dinner -- and a whole lot more, whether she wants it or not.

We ate at Ditrambo twice during our week in Rome. The first time we had a delightful lunch. After our meal we booked a dinner later in the week.

When we returned for dinner, the waiter recognized us and was about to put us in the front room near where we sat before. But the Manager was on duty, and we ended up having to wait a long time for a table, even though we had a reservation and tables were available!

We ended up with a table near the restrooms. We were very disappointed with the table, food and service at dinner.

If you bring a young blonde, you might get their attention.

Just returned -- ate a place called Constanza's which was out the Smeraldo front door - turn right and go to the 3rd (I think) little tiny street to the left. You can see the vertical sign on the side of the building. Very good food - cool atmosphere (outside and in) and reasonably priced.

I recommend Al Pompiere, in the ghetto, and Pancrazio, in a square off Campo dei Fiori. If you want something lighter, the Insalata Ricca salads are tremendous. The nearest Insalata Ricca to Smeraldo is on Corso Victor E near the S. Andrea del Valle church.

Trattoria del Pallaro is pretty near there I think and it is around 20 euros I think. We really enjoy that place.
