Residenza Farnese vs. Albergo Cesari

Help! We are booked for two nights at the RF in Sept. for 210E. I found a Superior room at the AC for 165E, and I believe it is in a better area. We are two women friends who want a peaceful, restful, clean, centrally located hotel. Would you switch?

Yes, better location and $$$ is $$$.

Will you lose money if you switch?

No cancelation penalty at this point.

There is a big price difference between the classic and the superior rooms at AC. Do anyone know if the superior rooms are worth it? The superior room is 165E, classic is 115E. Quite a big difference from the RF!

I have to say that we stayed at the RF in 2003, I think. I know that was quite a while ago. We liked the location. But that seems like a lot of money for the hotel. Not that is was not nice. I understand that the price of rooms in Rome has gone up quite a bit the last few years.
I don't think I would spend that amount of money for that hotel unless they have really changed some things.
The location was safe but I thought a little bit away from things. This is just my opinion.

I've stayed many times at the Residenza in Farnese, and I really think it's a great hotel. I also think it's a perfect location -- very near the activity of the Campo di'Fiori, but just slightly outside all the noise. It's an easy walk from the hotel to the Vatican and across to Trastevere.

I have been able to bargain with the RF at times. Why don't you go back to them, tell them that you've found a lower rate at another hotel and ask if they can do something for you.

Anneby: what did you decide, and what are the results? I am also considering both options. The on-line price for November is:
Residenze Farnese - 165 euro
Albergo Cesari - 110 euro
The Ponte Sisto looks beautiful but is 210 euro/night.

We have stayed at the RF and I know the location of the Cesari, having passed it.
The rooms in the RF are large and very nice, pretty breakfast room, nice staff.

We used to always stay near the Pantheon (in either the Nazionale Montecitorio or the Albergo Santa Chiara) but neither could give us the length of time we needed a few years ago.
Hence, the RF. We loved the area so much that's where we stay all the time now (but in less expensive apartment).

I can't offer you any advice, but I do know that the location of Albergo Cesari is excellent.

Also, Albergo Cesari was completely renovated in the second-half of 2006 (Jul-Dec).
