Reservationa required for what??
For what attractions/sights should I get advance reservations in ROME and FLORENCE other than Uffizi and Accademia?
|
In Rome, reservations are mandatory for Galleria Borghese. Nothing else comes to mind that is served by a reservation system.
Best wishes, Rex |
Reservations are possible for Domus Aurea, but it is not as popular as the Borghese and you could just take your chances and go. Worst case would be that you'd have to wait for a bit.

Having recently spent over three hours in line to see the Uffizi, I can't stress enough how important that reservation is. I went to Florence thinking that I would ask the hotel to make reservations for us once we got there, but they were not receptive to that idea and told us that if we got there when the gallery opened the wait shouldn't be too bad. I suppose it's relative, but I consider a 3+ hour wait unacceptable. Definitely make your reservations before you get there just to be sure.

You might want to mention the name of the hotel that gave this deplorably bad advice. Worthy of losing Fodorite business, in my opinion...

I agree with you, Rex. It was the Antica Dimora Firenze. It's an OK place, but not at all what I was looking for and the reservation fiasco definitely added to the disappointment. Fortunately, we waited less than 30 minutes to get into the Accademia the next day without a reservation, but that wasn't much of a consolation.
