resale shops in paris for womens clothes
Given the economy, thinking this may be a fun route to shopping. Any suggestions for re-sale boutiques in paris specializing in women's clothes?

I've been dropping into Reciproque (sp?) over in the 16th (?) since around the 70s or 80s. I've never bought anything in there however. The place has been around for a long time.
Resale clothes, in Paris, are very expensive, many times more expensive than resale clothes or new clothes in the States. I remember when my best friend went into a resale shop, here in L.A., in The Valley , and bought a gorgeous Chanel summer jacket, in mint condition, for less than US$200. That most likely would not have happened at a resale in Paris. I used to check the Chanel stuff regularly at different resale places in Paris. Here we get the celebs dumping their clothes, so the prices are good on classic, resale pieces. I bought, back in the late 80s, my Chanel suit...wool boucle jacket and matching wool boucle skirt and brand new in Copenhagen at a designer closeout sale for US $350., but paid $286. after the equivalent of detax was deducted. I had also been down, in Paris, at Reciproque, and other resale places that summer, and couldn't get a used Chanel jacket for that price. So, I used to check out these kinds of places through the 70s, 80s, and 90s basically. I don't know if things have changed now or not as I don't check them out anymore when I'm in Paris. There's also that famous place in the Palais Royale that has classic resale pieces. I can't think of the name off of the top of my head, but I used to go in there quite a bit. Also, the resale clothes, that I came across were in small sizes. Back then I fluctuated between a US size 4 and a size 8, and I would still have trouble shopping for clothes in Paris...not totally because of the size, but because of the cut of the clothes. I always did better shopping in Italy...since I'm curvaceous and not flat-chested, so to speak. Smiles. Happy Travels! |
Didier Ludot? It is off of Rue Rivoli. VERY EXPENSIVE.

Didier Ludot in the Palais Royale! I bought a black alligator shoulder bag from him in the 80s--I remember it cost $125US and I thought it was quite pricey at the time!

Yes, that's the place. Quite pricey. Speaking of alligator, I buy mine in Singapore. The last purchase was a gorgeous, brand new, Mississippi alligator handbag, for a little under US$800. That was in 2002.
The same style bag, here in the States, in 2002, was running well over US$3,000. I also bought one in Singapore, in a classic, Ferragamo, style that was under US$600. , but in Caiman. I came home and saw the exact same style, at Ferragamo, for US$6,000 or more , I believe it was. Had I bought the same handbag, in Singapore, in Mississippi alligator, instead of caiman, it would have cost me around US$900. I'll have to do with caiman in that style of a handbag though. Smiles.
