RER CDG to hotel Bonaparte best stop?
I am traveling solo, one 22" bag w/wheels, want to avoid stairs and navigating the metro w/ luggage, if possible. I arrive Saturday around noon. If I take the RER to Luxembourg can I just catch a cab from there? If I do take the metro, it looks like the nearest stop is St. Sulpice. Does the Denfert rochereau stop have stairs, is it smaller than St Michel?

I'd get off at Luxembourg. It's uphill from St Michel.
Denfert-Rochereau is way too far. |

To give you an idea of the slope of the Boulevard St-Michel, use the horizontal features of the buildings across the street as a gauge:

I much prefer Denfert to St Michel in terms of the stop itself. All stops have stairs, but they do also have an escalator from the platform to ground level.
There is a taxi stand across the street from the RER stop at Luxembourg but a taxi may not want to take you that short distance. There is a taxi stand around that "place" at the end of rue Soufflot, in any case, you'll see them. It's far enough that I can understand you want a taxi with baggage, but it isn't going to be that exciting a fare for the driver. I taxi would take you from Denfert Rochereau, though, but it would cost more, of course. If I only had one 22" bag, I personally would take the RER to Denfert and then the metro to St-Germain stop. That's because I do prefer Denfert a lot to St Michel. Maybe my memories are distorted, however, and St Michel wouldn't be that bad to transfer. It's only two stops from there, of course. I'm not even that big on taking the metro/RER with baggage, don't do it much myself, but I would if I only had one 22" bag and it was mid-day, and on that line. |
If you don't mind a short (3 minute) Correspondance, change to Métro Ligne 4 (Direction Porte d'Orléans) at St-Michel. The hotel is about a block east and north of the St-Sulpice station.
But walking down from Luxembourg might be more comfortable in any case. Here's the Mappy route: preview.tinyurl.com/39pxwc |
