Requesting help editing travel photos in Picasa
I'm not computer savvy and just discovered Picasa 3 and web albums, mostly as a result of reading the Forum. I took about 80 photos in Malta some of which benefit greatly from editing, however I am unable to make the edits save, either on my hard drive or on the web album. I googled the issue and other folks seem to have had the same problem but I don't see a solution. Has anyone here used Picasa and solved the saving edits problem?
Thanks for any suggestions. Gail |
According to my DH who uses Picasa all the time, you can't save changes to your "original" photo. You need to save the changes under a new file name.
Try this and see if it works for you. |
Are you using the edit tools within Picasa to make the edits? eg Crop, Straighten, Autocontrast etc. If you are then you should be able to save using the 'Save to disk' button. You need to close the window within Picasa that you have use to make the edits. Then you should see the button top right of screen - it will save all the edits that you have made in a given folder, and will keep a copy of the original photo in that same directory. If you are making edits with another program, outside of Picasa, then you would need to save the changed photo onto your hard drive and Picasa should find it there.

gail...I've been using Picasa for over three years...simple edit....the bestway to do it is to edit on your main Picasa file (crop, lighten, sharpen, fill light, etc)....then when you make an album, the edited pic goes into it...quite simple ...all of my albums, are edited and captioned.

I'm sorry it's taken me this long to say thank you to Tower, GregY2, and BettyK who took the time to offer advice about saving changes in Picasa. I was away for a week then busy catching up at work.
BettyK: I tried your suggestion of saving changes with a new name, but I can't find where the saved images are going. I'm very proficient with word processing, and understand the concept of "save as" but with word processing, the saved changes will save to the same place unless you tell it to save to a new place. GregY2: yes, I am using the edit tools within Picasa and yes, I used the "save to disc" button. The changes aren't there, either in the original file in Picasa or in the web album. I selected the automatic upload choice which is supposed to send the changes to the web album. No dice. Stu T: From the very beginning, I edited in the main Picasa file, before I ever tried to make a web album. I spent a lot of time editing all the photos, went back to see how it all looked and none of the changes had been saved. Every single change I made, I clicked the 'save to disc' button before going on to the next image. The weird thing is that I made captions that DO show up. I just can't figure this out. But I appreciate the suggestions, and would still very much like to find out how to save edits! |
Hi
Just go to "file" and "save a copy" and it saves it right next to the original with a "1" after the name. |
I use the 'Save as' and put them in a new directory.

Try this:
Make changes. Click 'back to library' Click 'save changes" Click 'OK'. ((*)) |
