Report on Restaurants in Venice
#21
Apropos food in venice, i was just checking on the spelling of "moleche" [the tiny crabs you get in Venice once or twice a year] for the purposes of my Italian assignment and I came across the following article:

in addition to the establishments mentioned in the article, we ate them at one of the restaurants along the main street of Burano, which we picked by the expedient of watching which one [of many] the local workmen patronised. at €20/ plateful they weren't cheap [and we're greedy, we had two] but they were very yummy. BTW, I have no idea whether they had undergone the process described in the article.
DH was unsure whether the catching of these crabs was ecologically sound, but it didn't stop him helping me eat them.
by now of course, you'll want to know which restaurant it was...sorry, no idea! I can say that it's in the middle of a row of them, on the left as you walk from the vaporetto stop towards the church, and had both outside and inside tables.
regards, ann

Ann, thanks for posting the great article. We were fortunate to experience the crabs in November 2007 at Ristorante Paradiso. They were divine, the best I have ever eaten. And I say this with having lived and eaten crabs all my life from the Chesapeake Bay in the US.
