Rentparis.com 20% discount
Hi all,
I received this email from rentparis.com: "Because you are already one of our clients or you contacted us, we can offer you a 20% discount for all the new reservations from January 2nd to March 17th, 2008 To use this special discount you must indicate the promo code "HIVER08" in the reservation form." I wish I could take advantage of this but maybe someone else here might find this helpful. |
lucygirl: maybe I'm up the wrong tree here - but this post sort of put me off. Rentparis is trying to reward their prior customers w/ a loyalty discount. I'm pretty sure they didn't intend their gesture to be broadcast over the internet for all to use/abuse.
Maybe not - maybe they upped their rates by 20% and then marketed this "discount" to everyone. But . . . . . . |
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Renting apts isn't rewarding anyone for anything. They are a business and want people to rent from them. The only reason they've mailed it to her (the language is the same as email newsletters) is because they have her email address, and they get those either from prior users or someone who has contacted them, as they said. This is because they aren't just sending spam out to everyone.
|
BTW, the reason for the discount is because it is winter. Lots of hotels have discounts on rates in that period, also.
|
I've got the same e-mail from them. I have used them 2 years ago and will use them again in the future. Unfortunately, we can't use the discount since we already have travel plans for March.
|
I posted this because I feel the same as Christina. This is a winter sale and they simply emailed me because they have my address on file. That's why I included the direct quote from the email. They're emailing anybody who has rented or CONTACTED them. That's a pretty broad spectrum.
janisj: I really resent being accused of "abusing" anything. I'm a very honest person and ethics are important to me so your answer really offended me. |
lucygirl: Please re-read what I posted. I clearly said I might be off base but that the post "sort of put me off". Not that I thought you were unethical or cheating or anythimg of tehh sort . . . .
I also mentioned the opposite possibliity - that "marketed this "discount" to everyone". I am really surprised that mild a commenty/suggestion offended you that much. (BTW a similar issue popped up here a few months ago and a discount code was yanked when the company discovered it had been broadcast on the internet) |
