Renting a car in the Florence Area
Does it make sense to rent a car when staying in the Florence area? We will be in Florence Feb 11 - Feb 15, 2005.
We have a tour scheduled, not sure yet how we will get to the tour, one day for the museums, and would like to do wine tastings and vinyard tours. If you suggest we get a car where should we rent it from and where do we pick it up? We will be coming to Florence by train and taking the train from Florence to Rome when we leave. |
Areinert - Does it make sense? Well - that depends where you want to go outside Florence.
For Florence itself you don't want a car. It doesn't make sense either to hire one for a vineyard tour - unless you have a teetotal driver. It's best to join an organised tour for that. What other trips did you have in mind? Steve |
We have a tour scheduled for ham, cheese and balsamic vinegar. We also have a day for the museums.
We haven't found any organized wine tours. The one we found is a person that charges 145E to drive you to the vinyards but you still have to pay for the tours and tastings. So I figured we can find them ourselves if we had too. Can you suggest any organized tours? |
CAF Tours do a Chianti tour from Florence.
Here's the link: http://www.caftours.com/ Hope this helps ... Steve |
Here's a link of a winery in the Chianti area that several people have raved about. You might want to check it out, tour the winery, and have lunch. We did the Banfi tour near Montalcino. You will probably need to make a reservation for the lunch & tour.
