Renting a car in Santorini

We'll have a one day cruise stop in Santorini and would like to rent a car. Should we reserve in advance? Where?

No. lots available and I must say really worth doing ! A great island really easy to get around ! Drive to the church near the red beach and make the walk....a lovely spot !

Can you drive a stick-shift? I can't. Well, it has been a long time since I did and most rentals are not automatic. I rented a "Smart Car" which has no clutch, but needs to be shifted. Quite easy to figure out. The car actually tells you when to shifit it.

Where did you rent them and did you pre-book. (I meant to put this on the Greece section.) :-(

We prebooked a few years ago for our cruise stop on Santorini. They required prepayment. Well, the captain decided the morning we were to tender onto the island, that the conditions weren't acceptable, and he cancelled the cruise stop. The rental car company wouldn't refund the money.

2 years later, we vacationed in the Greek islands on our own. We stayed several days on Santorini and rented a car for 2 days. We just rented the car the day we wanted it, in Oia. It was easy to drive the island, except when we'd have to pass a big, cruise ship tour bus in Oia!
