renting a car in france at age 75

I am planning to rent a car in france. i am 75 years old. Is my age going to be an issue renting a car?

Also, what are the insurance choices I will need to make in connection with the rental?

Thanks.

Check with Autoeurope for both issues. I was able to rent a car in Portugal at your age, but that was in pre-pandemic times. Somehow, when it comes to cost, and possibly age, Covid is the dividing line.

The age limit seems to vary by car rental companies. We also always use autoEurope to book our cars.

Even if you don't use AutoEurope to rent (though it often has the best rates) you can use it to plug in your dates, pick up and drop off locations, drivers ages, etc and get quotes for which ever rental company(s) can accommodate you, and show the insurance costs.

We have a Hertz car reserved through AutoEurope for both of our France vacations this year. For our Sept trip, my wife (the driver) will be 75. I entered this on the rental form. It was accepted. We always decline CDW insurance by the car company and AutoEurope because it is covered buy our CapOne credit card (with some minor restrictions). We did have an accident (not our fault), and CapOne (actually, Master Card) paid the claim after a log time and a lot of "beck & forth".

Attached is a write-up I wrote about our claim experience.

Stu, you may want to consider posting your popular guides in PDF rather than DOC format.

For one thing, PDF can’t Be modified by others as easily as PDFs.

Another reason is that they’re more secure than Word documents.

Lastly PDFs are more compatible in that they can be opened in some browsers, so no need to download and open in another app.

I don’t know if current versions of Windows allow you to save any document as PDF. Guessing not since MS also makes Office.

But maybe there’s a plugin for Word which will save as PDF.

MacOS lets you save anything as PDF files.

Has the OP clarified a solution?
Does he really need a car or would travel by public transport be safer for him and for others?

Here are the maximum/minimum age requirements in Europe according to AutoEurope:
https://www.autoeurope.com/travel-ti...-requirements/

In Europe, we always insure with the American Express Premium Car Rental insurance tied to our Amex card. It's $24.95 per rental period (up to 42 days) and is primary.
