Renting a car from Barcelona airport to Carmona to stay in a Parador there

My husband and I are going on a cruise that leaves near Barcelona. We would like to rent a car at the airport and drive to a Parador in Carmona. The question is this... how difficult is it to rent a car at the Barcelona airport and then return it near the port? Is the airport anywhere near where the ships dock? Is the driving difficulty in and out of Barcelona? We really want to have a car available to go to the national parks, etc.

That should be easy---just be sure it is the same vendor. I would talk to Autoeurope.

We stayed at that Parador years ago and liked it.

You can pick up and drop off at the airport, which is on the edge of the city, giving you quick access to the highway. You can then take a taxi, bus or train into the city, but a taxi to the Port would make more sense and take less time.

If you don't mind the traffic and one way streets, you can drop the car off closer to the Port and save a few Euros on taxi fare. But with the Euro being as low as it is, why bother?

Uh, isn't Carmona a long way from Barcelona? Google maps says 9+ hours by car, excluding all stops. Is this really what you want to do?

Maybe Girona?
