Rental Thru LondonConnections?
 

I noticed a few months back that someone was considering an apt. on Lower Sloans St. thru this agency. I too have checked it out and it is inan ultramodern building, actually on Gatliff Road. the propoerty looks great, and is air-conditioned and has a pool and a gym opening soon-both of which appeal as we will be there in August with 2 boys. Is anyone familiar with this propoerty, or can you comment on the agency? Thanks!

I think this is the apartment I am looking at. Has anyone stayed here? Anyone had good or bad experiences with londonconnections?

I'm not familiar with the Sloan Square area. How would that be for a family to stay in?

Sloane Square and its immediate environs are very upmarket. Gatliff Road is the other side of Chelsea Barracks and Ebury Bridge Road, and is more what I would call Victoria or Pimlico, less posh with a fair number of B&B hotels, but not a dump either.

However:
(a) if there's a building which has a pool and a gym "opening soon", that rather suggests to me that it's a building or development which is not yet fully built or in the process of conversion from some commercial function, so I'd be a bit cautious - ask a few probing questions about exactly how much building work is going on in the area.

(b) Gatliff Road runs into main roads feeding the Embankment and Chelsea Bridge, so traffic will be busy; depending on the age of the children, you might need to keep a close eye on them.

(c) I'm frankly not too sure how well placed it is for ordinary household shopping (depending on how much you plan to cook in the flat). There is or was a supermarket on Sloane Square, but that's a bit of a hike. If that's an issue, I'd press them on that too.

On the other hand, you are just over the bridge from Battersea Park, which will give the boys plenty of space to run around in safety.

In which case, it's clearly VERY upmarket. But I'd still wonder about the practicalities with children in mind, and how much building work is still going on.

I spoke to a very nice man at London Connections. The apartment is 2-22 lower Sloane Street (that's not the actual address though). It is in a building called Grove New Waterside. It sounds great and looks great on the website. The agent says it is a fabulous property. The rate is $334 per night, with a minimum of 5 nights. It was available for my dates in July.

However, although it is not noted on London Connections web site, the agent informs me that they will not take children. So, it is not a possibility for us.

If anyone is looking for a sleek and modern apartment, they might want to check this one out.
