RENTAL CARS (MILAN & ROME)

Would like recommendations for rental car companies in both Milan (MXP) and Rome (center city). Have corporate rates from Hertz, Avis and National, but rates are very high. Any thoughts?

How is it that Nova can be so much less than Autoeurope, when they use Autoeurope?

I don't think Nova uses Autoeurope. Autoeurope is a big broker. Maybe you are confusing Autoeurope with EuropCar, one of Autoeurope's European affiliates.

Nova doesn't use Autoeurope--at least I've never seen any mention of Autoeurope when checking/making reservations with Nova. Do you mean Europcar?

I've only used Autoeurope but I noticed your comment about price differences. Autoeurope states the full price, including insurance and tax, up front. Not sure if Nova does that, some companies don't - you don't see the full price until close to the end of the transaction. Be sure you are comparing apples and apples on the pricing. That threw me off at first too. HAve fun!

Try thrifty.it you get different rates than when you go through the .com verison and also Sicily by Car. I've used them and they had good rates and service. You might also try sixt.com but they will probably be more in Italy. You might also look at easyjet's rentals. They are cheap but the cars are basic. Also, don't let anyone scare you off from using local car rental companies. They have good service and they are cheaper.

Is there a clever way of finding out in advance who the local hire car companies are (in Italy) in order to prebook?

Yes, Nova Rentacar quotes all expenses in the price. The only exception being when you have insurance options--and the website clearly states what these options are and how much they cost per day.

Hi Pammca,>

Go with www.novarentacar.com or www.autoeurope.com.

Autoeurope will meet anyone else's price. (usually).
