Rental Car Return at Munich Hauptbahnhof

Anyone ever return your Hertz rental car to the central train station?

Do representatives check you in right there (similar to the States), or do you have to go into the train station and get a representative from the Hertz office to come down and inspect your car?

It's been probably five years or more, but when we dropped our rental the office was closed. Just dropped the keys in the slot. No one inspected anything but didn't have a problem.

There's a Hertz office two blocks from Hauptbahnhof on Eisenstrasse that was very easy to return to. You park in a garage and then proceed to the office. Hours are probably more limited than the train station return. Sorry, I've never returned right @ the train station.

Thanks - the directions on the Hertz website say the return is actual at a parking garage located at Hirtenstrasse 14 - that's why I'm hoping there will be representatives at that location versus having to then walk back to the train station.

Guess we'll find out!

There may or may not be a Hertz person in the garage; sometimes it seems there are simply garage personnel (I am speaking of my Hertz experience in Florence now) and yes I did have to take the keys back to the actual rental counter (in Florence it was around the corner in a separate building) so bottom line: get ready for the possibility of having to walk elsewhere to complete the rental turn-in process.

Pat&Hank- I returned a car to this location last September. There were many representatives there. Cars were washed, serviced, and checked in and out there. They also carefully inspected the car and compared the dents, etc. with the dents listed on the original rental agreement to be sure there were no new ones. The fuel gage was also checked to be sure the gastank was returned full.

There was a large Hertz sign on the street to show the exact location, which was down an allyway right off of Hirtenstrasse. As I remember, Hirtenstrasse is one way and I circled the block several times before noticing the Hertz sign. I did not have to go back to the train station, all of the paperwork was handled at this location.

Have a great trip...
