Rental car questions in Seville, Spain

I am renting a car in September at the Seville Santa Justa Train Station and dropping off
at the Madrid airport 5 days later. I am curious if anyone has info on insurance, best company to rent from and if deposits are required at time of pickup. Thanks for help!!!

Since your from the States, your VISA, MC or Amex card offers insurance coverage. Check with them. The coverage from Amex tends to be the best. You can also purchase travel insurance which will give you additional coverage (www.insuremytrip.com).

You can check with Auto Europe (www.autoeurope.com) or Kemwel (www.kemwel.com) regarding a rental car. You can prepay (the best way), or pay when you pick up the car.

You will need to get the IDP, International Driving Permit, from your nearest AAA office. It's required by Spanish law, and useful should you be stopped for any reason.

DH thinks we rented from Enterprise, but our TA arranged that for us as we had crazy itinerary. Didnt choose extra insurance as was covered by our credit cards, it was a fabulous comfy Citroen van that was great for four of us plus our luggage. Checked out of El Rey Morro, took two cabs to train station and were on our merry way shortly thereafter. Maps were provided but car had GPS in English. DH did have IDP but it was not requested/required.

You don't need the IDP in order to rent a car, only if you happen to be stopped by the Guardia Civil.
