rental car insurance--help!
 

I'll be in Tuscany for the xmas holidays, and will rent a car. My credit card covers my CDW insurance, but for that to take effect, I have to waive it. None of the agencies in Italy will let me do that. Anyone know of an agency that will or another idea?<BR><BR>Thanks!<BR><BR>marshall

Effectively, you can not take advantage of your credit card's CDW coverage in Italy. You pay there for theirs. Plain and simple.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex

Have you spoken to your credit card company? That would be my first suggestion. My card works the same way. I used Sixt car rental out of the Venice airport and was able to waive the extra coverage. I just signed off on it at the rental counter.

Has anyone ever gotten a credit card to pay for an actual claim on an accident in Italy?<BR>

We rented a car in Italy in September, and you're absolutely correct.....no one will let you waive the fee even though your credit card will cover it. It's a total crock to have the double coverage.

Check to see if the card actually covers in Italy. Last tinme I checked, my card didn't cover in Italy, Ireland, or Isreal (must be something about countries that start with I)

Just rent from AutoEurope and you don't have to worry about any insurance in Italy. They cover the car completely. They use the Avis and Europe Car, but if you rented from them and received the same insurance coverage, you'd be paying a fortune.

If Autoeurope covers the car &quot;completely&quot;, it's because they are charging for CDW as part of their rate. It could be that you might get the best rate from them but that doesn't answer the original question...<BR><BR>I was able to waive CDW in France last September when renting with AutoEurope (they used Europcar actually) but Italy I presume is different.<BR><BR>Andrew<BR>
