We did the lease buy back from AutoEurope. We had the car for a little over two months. Very easy, just like dealing with a rental car. Would definitely do a buy back in the future.

It all depends on what one rents. I believe that the break even point is about 50 days. I have spoken to Kemwel about it, and the person at the other end of the line admitted that if I am renting a car at the "basic" rate, it is cheaper to rent than to lease.

I have run it several times for clients and the break even varies each time based on pickup and drop off locations outside of France, car model, and desired insurance coverage.
But, never has it been as high as 50 days. They claim 21 days but that asssumes France pick up and drop. We saved almost a $1000 one year, but that was for 56 days. It is an excellent program.

I think the break-even point is closer to 3-weeks. I've done it several times and saved boodles and really enjoyed the brand-new car.

I guess it depends on what one is willing to rent. My rentals for 3 weeks through AutoEurope or Kemwel, year in and year out, have never been as much as the basic 18 day lease--this is for a Peugeot 206 or equivalent with standard shift and the CDW carried by my credit card.

I just did a comparison: A basic rental from June 1 to June 22 costs $508, whereas a Twingo lease for the same dates costs $981.
