Rental agreement for apartment in Paris

I have a quick question.

I am renting an apartment in Paris for a week via vrbo.com. The owner asked for my name, address, date of birth, and place of birth for the rental contract. Name and address I get, but date of birth and place of birth seem a bit strange.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it set off any red flags?

Thanks!

You will have to show passport anyway upon check in, so not so odd.

At least you do when you rent via an agency. May not be true for owner rentals. And be careful, weekly rentals in Paris are under scrutiny now, as many/most are not legal.

Thanks. Can you explain why the rentals are not legal?

I can't imagine why you'd think date of birth was strange, they need to identify you, anyway, and wouldn't want to rent to minors.

It's a paperwork driven society, don't be surprised.

If you're looking for a good rental company try Take Me To Paris apartments. They're awesome and they have personal welcomes, no fiddling around looking for keys in mailboxes. Can't recommend them enough!
