rent muscle car in Norway
 

Hello friends

My boss wants to rent a muscle car while trvelling in Norway. something like Nissan GTR, Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang Convertible.
Tried to search on different web-sites that offer car rental services, but still nothing...

Do you know how it is possible to turn into reality???

Does you boss know how much petrol costs in Norway??
Does he know the speed limit - strictly enforced- in Norway?

Maybe those are two reason you are struggling to find such a vehicle to rent.

Convertibles not exactly practical in Norway's climate and US brands not common. Look for European or Japanese.
Petrol costs hardly likely to figure given the likely hire charges for this type of vehicle.

Sorry, but you won't find many American built cars to rent in Europe. Who would want one? About the best you can do in Norway would be a BMW 520 from Hertz. Europcar also offers a BMW 5 series from the airport in Oslo.

Many Americans. Indeed, Robert's statement is rather stupid on two levels. First, the reliability of both major Scandinavian manufacturers whose cars are (or were) sold in the US IMPROVED after they partnered with US automakers (GM-Saab, Ford-Volvo; both partnerships have since essentially terminated but stock ownership may not have). Second, the reliability of major European brands is lower than those of Ford, most GM nameplates and even most Dodge imprints (Mercedes the most notable here). Peugeot and Fiat don't even begin to compare.

Fact is, American built cars are some of the best in the world. And many of those American built cars are NOT American nameplates - Nissan, Subaru, BMW, VW, Mercedes, Infiniti, Acura, Honda and Toyota all manufacture in the USA. But to say who would want a US car instead of a Citroen or smartfortwo is just ludicrous.

I agree. Some folks want something different than others have. I'm sure BMW, VW, and Mercedes dominate German roads. How cool would it be, if you're German, to be roaring down the autobahn in a Mustang? Still, good luck finding one to rent in Norway.

oops.. disregard my prior post. That's for rentals IN the US, not in Norway.

Or more correctly, foreign built cars assembled in America in one of the third world-like states. A Mustang has none of the finesse of a Audi, Jaguar or Lexus. Muscle cars were stupid in the 60s & 70s and rediculous now.

I dare say there are far more Citroens and Smart cars on European roads than American made cars. The fact is: most attempts to market American cars in Europe have been a disaster, Jeep being an exception.

It's not the reliability it's the cost of petrol - currently about NOK 16 per litre in Norway and not much cheaper in the rest of Europe. So there's no real market for these gas guzzlers here. And of course playing cowboys just isn't cool here either.
Beware brokers like autoeurope they don't have cars themselves - the cars come from Hertz, Avis etc. and far safer to have a contract directly with the hire company.

From other comments on this board (and my own experience) I would say that the contrary is true.

AE don't have cars themselves because they are not the rental company, they are a booking agent/wholesaler. The rental contract you get when you book thru AE is a rental contract with the rental company eg Hertz, Avis etc.

It is very popular in Sweden and parts of Norway to have a classic American car and there is a whole subculture around this.
