I recently spent a week in Rota, Spain. I know there are apartments for rent there in the summer. But from what I heard it gets pretty crowded in the summer. But the city is great, and the people are very friendly. There is a surprisingly active nightlife considering the size of Rota. There aren't any really nice clubs but you have your choices of disco's, bars, irish pubs. Also, since there is a base in Rota some Americans are stationed there and you can find a few American bars.(In O'Grady's there are American dollar bills with messages written on them pined over the bar). Also, Rota is within a days drive(meaning you can drive there see the sights and shop and be home at night) of Sevilla, Ronda, Jerz, and Gibraltar, all of which I visited and will be more than happy to tell you about.

I forgot to mention that Rota is on the beach, an important factor in visiting there. (Spelling correction: Jerez)
