If you do a search you will find MANY threads already on here about flats in London. So instead of us reinventing the wheel, why not look over some of those recommendations and then come back w/ specific questions.

And there is really no way anyone could give you useful suggestions for a cottage in the country w/o knowing a little more about what kinds of things you want to see/where you want to go. There are literally thousands of cottages for rent all over England -- Do you want Kent/the SE, or the Cotswolds, or Devon/Cornwall, or Yorkshire, or East Anglia, or, or, or . . . . .

Sorry if I seem grouchy, but you really aren't a newby here and should know how the search function works -- if not this is a good time to learn.

We rent flats in London very satisfactorily via www.barclayweb.com. We like the South Kensington/Chelsea area but they have them all over. They also have country cottages. As mentioned, there are numberous flat rental sites in London; this is just one of many.

Here are some recent threads with suggestions for London flat rentals:

Do you know which part of the countryside you're going to be visiting? That might field some help in narrowing suggestions for rental sites.

Friends of ours rented from londonperfect.com last May and were very happy with their flat.
